Does your hair need a detox?

Have you ever wondered why a shampoo works wonders the first time you use it, then all of a sudden it just loses its ability to give you that shine and softness you loved?

One word: buildup

Buildup can come from the shampoo itself, but it can also come from your conditioner and styling products you use regularly. Add hard water minerals to the equation, and you’re left with a coat of gunk blocking your hair’s cuticle layer from absorbing all the good ingredients that you’re trying to feed it. And most importantly, the natural oils that your scalp provides are unable to penetrate your hair shaft.

What can you do?

You may have heard of clarifying shampoos. These are fine, but they can be overly drying, leaving you in a worse place than you started. That’s usually because they’re full of harsh synthetic ingredients. Instead, try a detoxifying product like the Innersense Detox Hair Mask, which relies on naturally derived ingredients to remove residue, minerals, and oils.

When I say it’ll leave your hair silkier and softer than you’ve ever felt, I’m not exaggerating!

And be prepared to be amazed by how much more responsive your hair will be to shampoos, conditioners, hair color, and styling products. You’ll use less of it, and on top of that get better results.

How often do you need to detox your hair?

This is dependent on your hair type and your routine, but a good place to start is once a month at home. If your stylist offers a detox service, you can opt to get it done at every appointment instead.

Signs you’re ready for a detox:

  1. Hair products aren’t working like they used to

  2. Hair is frizzy and dry, and won’t hold moisture

  3. Your scalp is itchy and flaky (unrelated to dandruff)
